Erick Hill tLMHC

Clients describe me as challenging, thoughtful, candid, and also kind. I use a relationship-first approach and adapt methods based on the client's needs, whether it’s space to gather thoughts, coregulation, or structured skill-building. I commonly use therapy modalities like existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I currently hold a tLMHC and am under clinical supervision. I graduated from UNI with a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and my previous experience comes from working with college students at UNI’s counseling center, and providing support to family caregivers of those with dementia. I work with clients managing anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, men’s issues, and trauma.

Sessions with me are collaborative. That means we work together to determine what you want your life to look like and how to get there. While I have training in working with common mental health conditions, you are the expert in your own life. So I bring a human-to-human approach to my work because I understand the importance of client autonomy. I came into the world of counseling through my personal experience as a client, and that has given me deep respect for what clients can struggle with inside a therapy session.

As a therapist, I encourage clients to do their best, but I do it with the understanding that the best only comes in therapy through a genuine connection with the counselor. Therapy is hard work, but it is manageable when you have someone by your side rooting for you. Together, we’ll do the hard work therapy requires, but only when you’re ready. Until then, you can count on me.
